Project No. 10
CONSTRUCTION OF A TECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE AND ENVIRONMENT
(N'SELE AREA)
The targeted area around N'Sele has been occupied by families fleeing those areas where the war continues and the neighboring city of Kinshasa. These families live in precarious conditions and poverty. Moreover, the destruction of schools and hospitals in these years of war and unemployment have aggravated poverty and misery. The consequences are, among other things, juvenile delinquency, the inability of several families to take care of their children for schooling, nutrition, health.
The training course of the Institute will be six years aimed at obtaining the Diploma of Agricultural, Agri-food and Agro-industrial High School.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, school expenses are fully borne by the person responsible for each child and young person. In case of non-payment, the child or young person is prevented from entering the school. And for someone so ends the study! As a result, 60% of children and young people do not attend school; only few lucky children and young people manage to attend school and walk to shacks without walls, with desks made of tree trunks and in the shade of the branches they listen to a lesson. Studying costs money, surviving costs and often families have nothing to live on. Drinking water and electricity are also a privilege for a few.
Objectives:
- This project comes to life to help children in the affected area who do not have the opportunity to attend school and are excluded from the labor market due to lack of resources.
- Our goal is to set up a technical institute for agriculture and the environment in which specialized teachers can train children and start them in the profession after obtaining the diploma. The project aims to develop organized agriculture with the transport of products to the markets to limit the phenomenon of malnutrition, and to carry out the collection and purification of water from springs and rain for daily use.
- Finally, this initiative aims to counter the great scourge of youth prostitution, early marriage, banditry and the phenomenon known as "Kuluna" or street children who sow violence and death among the defenceless population.
